 FOOD PANTRY ADDITION Minimize

Construction of the new addition will begin the week of July 11th.  During the construction period we will be unable to serve food to families or to stock shelves on Saturdays which will be used for construction days.  Families coming to the pantry must come on either the Third Thursday of each month from 4-7pm or on the Wednesday before from 10am - noon.  Saturday services will resume in the fall once the building is complete.  Expected completion is sometime in October.  Families should park in the church lot since parking by the building will not be available either.

Christ's Church at Lowhill - Food Pantry

Christ's Church at Lowhill has a new mission.  The old, one-room Lowhill Church School House is now a food pantry for local families in need.  It is sponsored by Christ's Church at Lowhill, Ebenezer UCC, New Life Lutheran Church, Weisenberg Lutheran Church, Ziegels Union Church, Hope Community Church, and Jacob's Church.  Volunteers are coming from many of the churches and the communities in Lowhill, Heidelberg, Weisenberg and Lynn Townships.  In addition, St. Paul's UCC, Heidelberg Union Church, St. Peter's Church and Morganland Church are supporting our work.   It is the belief that in this land of plenty noone should go hungry.

Qualifying to be served at the pantry is based on the size of the household and  its current income level as indicated below.

Each household will receive approximately 3-4 days worth of food when they come to the pantry.  We receive food in a partnership with Second Harvest of the Lehigh Valley  but we also heavily rely on donations from individuals, member churches and local businesses.

We have opportunities for those who are interested in volunteering for the food pantry.  We need help in unloading the delivered food; stocking the shelves with the donated food; and serving the families that come to us for food. The  list of days, times and services is available through a link in the "Volunteer" module on the left side of this page.

We are also grateful for fresh  and frozen food donations, personal care products like soap, toothpaste, diapers, etc.  For a list of needed foods and products please click.  Donations may be received from 9am-11:30 on the Tuesday just before the third Thursday and from 9 am until 11:30  am the last Saturday of each month,  or at other times by arrangement.  Call 610-737-8758   if needed. Fresh produce needs to be accepted not more than a day or so before our food distribution days in order for it to not spoil before families come.

We have two local banks that have agreed to be drop off locations for the pantry for non-perishable food and personal items. .  New Tripoli Bank has volunteered to be a drop-off site  They are open at two locations (New Tripoli and Claussville) every week day.  Also the First Star Bank on the corner of 309 and Hwy 100 in New Tripoli has been serving as a drop-off site for the past year.

Our hours for serving the families are:
The first Saturday   from 9am-12 noon.
Seniors only on the Wednesday before the third Thursday from 10am-noon
The third Thursday  from 4 pm - 7pm

If you wish to volunteer to help or to give donations please contact Terry Ryan-Mitlyng at terryrm@ptd.net or by phone at 610-737-8758. You may also call the Food Pantry directly at 610-298-2054  and leave a message.   Monetary donations may be given to the food pantry.  Please make checks out to :
